Pursuant to Ordinance 2026-8A, adopted by the Fortville Town Council on August 17, 2026, all residential rental properties located within the Town of Fortville must be registered with the Town.

Registration Requirements

Please review the following requirements before submitting your registration:

• A separate registration form is required for each rental property.
• All required fields must be completed.
• The registration form must be resubmitted whenever any required information changes.
• Completed forms and applicable fees must be submitted to the Town of Fortville.
• Property owners must maintain a current list of all tenants and their contact information for each rental unit.
• If ownership of a rental property changes, the new owner must submit a registration form and pay the required fee within 30 days of the transfer.

Registration Fee

• Rental Property Registration Fee: $5.00 per property
• Fee waived from September 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026

Required Certifications

By submitting a registration, the owner certifies that:

• A Homestead Property Tax Deduction is not being claimed on the property while it is being used as a rental unit.
• All information provided is true, complete, and accurate.

Owner Residency Requirement

Owners must indicate whether they reside within Hancock County or within a 50-mile radius of the Town of Fortville.

Owners residing outside this area are required to designate a local Owner's Agent and provide complete contact information for that representative.
